彩绘玻璃，随着欧洲中世纪教堂的发展而兴盛，浓墨重彩且肃穆，以纯手绘经低温烤制而成。随着技术的发展，现在多使用电脑作图，印刷设备进行绘制。
若是再往前溯源，在欧洲12、13世纪哥特式教堂里，这种彩绘玻璃花窗已经是很惊艳的装饰了，甚至还被誉为「上帝之光」。

彩釉玻璃是将无机釉料（又称油墨），印刷到玻璃表面，然后经烘干，钢化或热化加工处理，将釉料永久结于玻璃表面而得到一种耐磨，耐酸碱的装饰性玻璃产品。
